July 6, 9:20 AM "The bumper crops of summer are coming. Are you prepared to be inundated? Urban Kitchen SF is offering a pickling class on Friday, July 17th, from 7 - 9 p.m. The timing couldn't be better. The instructor -- or possibly instructors -- for the class are from Happy Girl Kitchen. The folks at Happy Girl Kitchen are preservation professionals specializing in local, organically grown produce so you can expect a good class with lots of practical advice. Participants will go home with a plethora of goodies, including a pickling starter kit as well as their very own pickled produce. If you caught Karen Solomon, author of Jam It, Pickle It, Cure It: And Other Cooking Projects at Omnivore Books in San Francisco at the end of June and need just a bit more of a kick to get started, this could be your class. Besides, music and refreshments are planned. (It's practically a pickling party.)"
